Everything you need to know about iFactory's Stock Management capabilities.
Parts are the master catalog of items you use – containing specifications, supplier information, and pricing. Stocks track the actual quantity of those parts at specific storage locations. A single part can have stock entries at multiple warehouses. For example, “SKF Bearing 6205” is a Part, while “15 units at Warehouse A - Shelf 3” is a Stock entry for that part.
The Reorder Point is the stock level at which you should place a new order to replenish inventory. When current stock falls to or below this level, iFactory marks the item as “Low Stock” and triggers alerts. Calculate your reorder point based on lead time demand plus safety stock. iFactory's AI can also auto-calculate optimal reorder points based on consumption patterns.
Safety Stock is a buffer quantity held to protect against unexpected demand or supply delays. It's the minimum stock you always want to have on hand. When stock falls below safety stock level, it's marked as “Critical” requiring immediate attention. Safety stock helps you avoid stockouts during emergencies or when suppliers experience delivery delays.
iFactory integrates with SAP ERP through storage location (SLOC) and batch number mapping. You can link each stock entry to its corresponding SAP storage location code and batch number. This enables two-way synchronization of inventory data between iFactory and SAP, eliminating manual data entry and ensuring both systems show consistent stock information. Pre-built connectors also support Oracle and Dynamics.
Reserved Stock is the quantity of items allocated to specific work orders or jobs but not yet physically issued. Available Stock = Current Stock minus Reserved Stock. This prevents the same inventory from being promised to multiple jobs and ensures accurate availability information when planning maintenance work or production schedules.
iFactory tracks the last count date for each stock item and lets you schedule regular cycle counts for high-value or critical items. During a count, technicians verify physical quantities against system records using mobile devices. Any variances are flagged for investigation, and adjustments are recorded with a full audit trail. This ongoing process maintains 99%+ inventory accuracy without full physical inventories.
Yes, iFactory supports multi-location stock tracking. The same part can have stock entries at multiple warehouses, storerooms, or satellite locations. You can view consolidated stock across all facilities, drill down to specific locations, transfer materials between sites, and see available quantity at each warehouse/shelf/bin location. Barcode and QR scanning simplify receiving, issuing, and counting at every location.
A single storeroom can go live within 1–2 weeks with iFactory's cloud-native platform. This includes parts catalog import, stock entries, and reorder point configuration. Multi-location rollouts with barcode integration, SAP connectivity, and historical data migration typically complete in 4–6 weeks. Storeroom staff become proficient within 2–4 hours of training thanks to the intuitive interface.
